SensorX™ series accessories:
SensorX™ Loop Powered Isolator
The SensorX™ loop powered isolator isolates short circuit
faults on any loop-based system. The isolator is loop-powered and is polarity
sensitive.
In a short circuit condition its 2 integral red leds will pulse on. Its function is to isolate a section of cable/device/s in the event of a short circuit condition, maintaining the rest of the cable/device/s.
In a normal condition a low resistance is present between the -IN and -OUT terminals, so that power and data signals are passed to the next detector. If a short circuit or very low resistance is present the fall in voltage is sensed and the isolator isolates the negative supply in the direction of the fault. When the short circuit is removed, the power will automatically be restored.
In the event of site commissioning, or to link out the field cables connected to the isolator a link can be placed on the isolator PCB.
If it is a requirement that no devices are lost in the event of a single short-circuit condition then an isolator must be placed next to every detector. In applications where it is not necessary to use an isolating base for each detector, up to twenty detectors may be installed between isolators.
